A few weeks ago, after months of planning with my dear friend, Rachel, I was lucky enough to spend 10 glorious days exploring Thailand. Rachel left to teach English in Japan almost a year ago, and the last time I had seen her was just a few days after we both graduated from Creighton and she moved out of our college house. Needless to say, we missed (and still miss) each other very much, and it was so nice to spend a whole week together in such an amazing place.
Rach and I have spent lots of time traveling together, from road trips to Chicago, Milwaukee, and St. Louis to adventures in Ireland, Barcelona, and Italy. She’s one of my favorite people to travel with, and I’ve done it the most with her. We’re both laid back and spontaneous on the road, and our experiences complement each other well (I make sure she doesn’t drink the water and or get scammed by cab drivers, while she makes sure we have air conditioning in our hotels and do in-the-moment things like hop on the back of a random guy’s motor bike for a free ride home).
We spent our blissful week on boats and buses and planes, riding elephants, eating too much curry, soaking in the beautiful landscape, and appreciating a rich, dynamic culture and country that I can’t wait to return to. Some photos I snapped are below. You can read Rachel’s take on the trip (and read about her adventures in Japan) on her blog.
